Quebec Budget 2026–2027: Coalition Jeunes+ calls for youth homelessness prevention to become a priority.

We are pleased to share the official press release from the Coalition Jeunes+ regarding the unveiling of the 2026–2027 provincial budget. This document presents our reactions, preliminary analyses, and the priority issues we wish to bring to the attention of the public and decision-makers.

  • We note that the 2026–2027 budget does not make youth homelessness prevention a sufficient priority.

  • We reiterate the importance of investing upstream to prevent young people from becoming homeless.

  • We highlight the growing needs of vulnerable youth in Quebec.

  • We call on the government to take concrete and structural action to address these issues.

Why is this important?

Youth homelessness is a growing issue in Quebec. Without upstream interventions, many young people risk ending up in situations of extreme precarity. Prevention not only helps avoid these trajectories but also reduces long-term social and human costs..

About the Coalition Jeunes+

The Coalition Jeunes+ is a Quebec-based coalition aimed at preventing youth homelessness and promoting respect for young people’s rights. Created in 2018, it brings together youth with lived experience, community organizations, networks of organizations, and researchers. On December 8, 2021, the National Assembly of Quebec adopted a motion recognizing the Coalition Jeunes+ declaration and the importance of preventing youth homelessness.
