The 2nd edition of the City of Granby Homelessness Forum brought together more than 140 stakeholders to assess progress and explore new solutions in response to this growing reality.
Some notable figures:
95% of people experiencing homelessness have never experienced violence
16% are employed
1% of the population will experience a period of homelessness during their lifetime
A growing issue, even outside major cities: in Granby, the lack of adapted resources makes it more difficult to support people in precarious situations. The forum highlighted the need for legislative adjustments and improved collaboration between police, outreach workers, and community services.
Act upstream, especially for young people!
We emphasized the importance of preventive solutions:
More social housing
Increased funding for resources
Public awareness and support
